I loved this installment in the #TearoomMysteries series, it was much better than the previous book. I felt that we were definitely solidly back in the world of the first 2 books, and it was a relief.

Master crossword builder Bill Markham has come to the sleepy little #Maine town where Elaine Cook and her cousin Jan Blake have their flourishing tea room. At an event there, he passes out a stack of crosswords to the tea room crowd. However, one patron, Katelyn Grande, soon discovers that her crossword sheet is actually personalized just for her. But by whom?
🧣
🧣
🧣
Inveterate sleuths Elaine and Jan are quickly on the case, and Elaine gets several chances to break out her brand new fingerprint kit. In the midst of all the sleuthing, Jan’s granddaughter Avery is having troubles with the popular crowd at her middle school.

A delightful, often laugh out loud funny, #cozymystery that is sure to please. I keep wishing that @hallmarkchannel would pick these books up!

This book is the latest addition to the #ElmCreekQuilts series by @jenniferchiaveriniauthor. I absolutely adored it! You apparently don’t need to read the series in order, but I’ve purchased book 1, #TheQuiltersApprentice and can’t wait to dive in at the series’ start!
🧡
🧡
🧡
In the book, we meet a series of women, of all different ages, and the author manages to keep each character distinct and each woman’s voice unique. Elm Creek Valley in Pennsylvania is home to them all, and we get to see various parts of the landscape through the women’s eyes.
🧡
🧡
🧡
The Christmas Boutique is a massive annual fund-raising event in Elm Creek, and when it’s threatened by a series of small and large mistakes that lead to certain disaster, the ladies of Elm Creek prove themselves worthy of the challenge.
🧡
🧡
🧡
I truly can’t wait to really dive in to these books. I’m a huge fan of #cozyreads and I can tell I’m going to love these. Any fans of the @hallmarkchannel and of the #gentlereads published by @guideposts.books? Right up your alley!

I’m giving this a lower review than I gave the first two books in this series. It just didn’t quite fit with the atmosphere or world of the first two books.
πŸ‚
πŸ‚
πŸ‚
The third book in the #TearoomMysteries series published by @guideposts.books was much edgier (the storyline includes drugs, addiction, and biker bars) than the first two. We do see our heroines, Elaine Cook and Jan Blake, take on deeper personas as they grapple with unfamiliar issues, which is a plus. Not a plus is that we also see them become snippy, angry, easily irritated and almost twitchy.
πŸ‚
πŸ‚
πŸ‚
Soon to be bridegroom Ryan disappears shortly before his wedding to Felicia, which is to be the first wedding held at Tea for Two, the tearoom/Victorian home owned by Elaine and Jan. At the same time, Elaine and Jan’s former landscaper Reggie is accused of robbing the local bank and also disappears.
πŸ‚
πŸ‚
πŸ‚
I found it hard to get through this installment in what is, so far, a really good series of cozy mysteries. It just felt…off, somehow. I have high hopes for book 4!

A delightful second book in the #TearoomMysteries series published by @guidepostsmagazine! I know I’m going to love every book in this series. #cozymysteries with delightful and fully fleshed out characters! Again, any fan of @hallmarkchannel will love them too!

Rose Young, younger employee of widowed cousins Elaine and Jan, is the primary focus of this one. She finds, after her mother’s passing, her own (!) death certificate. She takes it to show her employers, and another mystery is in full swing.

I don’t think I can spill much more tea (see what I did there? πŸ˜‰) without spoilers, so I’ll just urge you to grab this series and enjoy it. Perfect reading for #fall!

Yes, I know the emojis look more like coffee than tea, but I couldn’t find a truly tea one. The tea pictured is the #BakerStreetBlend by @sagenatural, yummy stuff! The teacup is from the always amazing @thebelieversbox subscription box. This is not in any way an ad for any products shown, and I have not received compensation for the items.

I loved this book. Lighthearted with a touch of drama and mystery, as perfectly spiced as a cup of hot #chaitea. Published by @guidepostsmagazine.

Cousins of a certain age, widowed Elaine Cook and Jan Blake have purchased a #Victorian house in #CentralMaine. Located in town but on a stunning lake, the house is perfect for the tearoom business they plan to open.
πŸ‚
πŸ‚
πŸ‚
Things get a little sinister when they purchase a teapot at a flea market. The pot has been overpainted with garish yellow paint and vibrant flowers. Once the paint is removed, the cousins discover the pot is far more valuable, and far more mysterious, than they’d imagined.
πŸ‚
πŸ‚
πŸ‚
The only reason I’m not giving 5 🌻s is because there are, sadly, no recipes included. The novel is the first in the #TearoomMysteries series put out by #Guideposts, and contains #Christian elements, so don’t read if you’re put off by that. For fans (like me!) of @hallmarkchannel movies, I highly recommend this book!

DNF. When you get halfway through a book and suddenly realize there’s absolutely no plot whatsoever, let alone tension of any kind, it’s time to move on. I really wanted to like this book.

Another picture postcard beach read from the absolute queen of beach reads. I loved this book! Made me want to buy a fixer-upper beach cottage like, immediately.
β›±
β›±
β›±
Drue Campbell is adrift (pun intended) in her life after losing a waitressing job and after losing her mother to cancer. Enter her long-estranged Dad, lawyer Brice Campbell, to announce she’s inherited her grandparents’ beach house, Coquina Cottage, on Sunset Beach, Florida.
β›±
β›±
β›±
The cottage is a fixer upper, but Drue rises to the challenge. She also accepts a job manning a call line at her Dad’s legal firm. Unfortunately, the job comes complete with her new stepmother, Brice’s assistant and Drue’s ex-bff Wendy.
β›±
β›±
β›±
The book not only explores deep family issues, but comes with a murder mystery built in. Beautifully written, you can feel the Florida sun on your skin, and the sand between your toes.

I’m honestly not sure what I just read. No joke. I loved this book, though, and I do recommend it quite highly. I just had a difficult time getting past some seriously pretentious writing that may or may not have been intended as irony.
πŸ‡
πŸ‡
πŸ‡
Samantha Mackey has enrolled in a graduate writing course at a prestigious East Coast university. There, she meets and becomes enthralled (literally and figuratively) by a group of women (also in the writing course) who call each other Bunny. Samantha and her best friend Ava mock these women and their Stepford-esque ways.
πŸ‡
πŸ‡
πŸ‡
All of that is fine and good. The very white-girls-of-Pinterest vibes given off by the Bunnys is mysterious and creepy. But then things become rapidly and extremely surreal and haunting, not to mention downright gory.
πŸ‡
πŸ‡
πŸ‡
Excellent writing (I think?) and truly brilliant characterization make this book worth the read. Fans of films like #Hereditary or #Midsommar will love it. However, #triggerwarning #animalabuse. Or maybe not abuse so much as the very weird use of animals? Regardless, be aware.

This book is an absolute delight, and the only tiny quibble I have with it is that the ending seems rushed. The rest is sheer perfection.
πŸ“š
πŸ“š
πŸ“š
Nina Lee Hill is the only child of a non apologetic wanderer named Candice, who basically abandoned her as a toddler in order to travel the world unencumbered. Nina is raised by a nanny whom she adores. Nina doesn’t have a clue who her father was.
πŸ“š
πŸ“š
πŸ“š
One day, disrupting Nina’s everyday fully structured life, a lawyer arrives to inform her of her father’s death, and of the existence of a vast family. Nina lives her life abiding by her strictly scheduled day-planner. That, needless to say, goes out the window.
πŸ“š
πŸ“š
πŸ“š
Through many and varied adventures, Nina comes to know this extended family, and even picks up a boyfriend along the way. The book has been compared to #BridgetJones but in my opinion it far surpasses the earlier work, similar only insofar as the daily diary entries. I simply loved this book.

Rowan is the new nanny at Heatherbrae House in a remote part of Scotland. Four previous nannies had given notice because they all swore the house was haunted. It becomes evident at the outset that Rowan is an unreliable narrator.
πŸ”ͺ
πŸ”ͺ
πŸ”ͺ
The book opens with a series of pleading letters to a Mr Wrexham from Rowan, who is in prison, having been convicted of murdering one of the 4 kids in her charge at Heatherbrae. Mr Wrexham is a lawyer, and Rowan wants his help proving her innocence.
πŸ”ͺ
πŸ”ͺ
πŸ”ͺ
Rowan’s charges, the children of Sandra and Bill Elincourt, are all girls, ranging from Petra at 18 months, through Ellie at 5, Maddie at 8, and Rhiannon at 14. Rowan soon discovers that Maddie has distinctly psychopathic tendencies. She also begins hearing noises throughout the house, which is a “smart house” outfitted with all the mod-con technology.
πŸ”ͺ
πŸ”ͺ
πŸ”ͺ
The book is replete with every haunted-house trope (which I loved!), from disembodied footsteps to the hunky caretaker who may or may not be sketch as heck. I’m posting this amid books/movies it reminded me of, such as #TheTurnoftheScrew, #ThePerfectNanny, #Rebecca, #TheHauntingofHillHouse and even a dash of #RosemarysBaby.
